Key responsibilities
- Coordinates the clinical orientation, teaching, learning, assessment, mentoring, and support of student nurses and staff development.
- Clinical teaching and learning: coordinate work-integrated learning (WIL), day-to-day bedside accompaniment, clinical supervision, and simulation preparation for student nurses.
- Student and staff orientation: manage onboarding, orientation, and induction programmes for newly placed student nurses, graduate nurses, and clinical staff.
- Skills audits and gap analysis: identify learning and competency gaps among nursing staff and students, and design relevant in-service training plans.
- Preceptorship and mentorship: support and coordinate clinical preceptors and mentors across hospital wards to ensure proper student-to-staff guidance ratios.
- Assessments and competency evaluation: conduct continuous clinical competence assessments, review professional practice files, and track student learning contracts.
- Compliance and quality assurance: ensure adherence to SANC (South African Nursing Council) standards, accreditation requirements, and Office of Health Standards Compliance (OHSC) protocols.
- Reporting and administration: compile monthly, quarterly, and annual 200 operational reports on CETU activities, training records, and student progress for hospital and nursing college management.
