What you will need

• Minimum educational qualification: Grade 10 Certificate and an equivalent recognised valid National Steam Certificate.
• Inherent requirements of the job: Must have an accredited qualification in the operation of coal fired steam boilers.
• Required to do standby duties, and work nightshift and overtime.
• Competencies (knowledge/skills): Ability to plan ahead (pro-active), work independently as well as in a team and it would be required for the officer to 458 learn & comply with in-house systems & procedures.
• Strict adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Be able to work under-pressure and be willing to work shifts when required.

Experience

Experience: Appropriate experience working on large industrial boilers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Artisan-Foreman with routine maintenance and repairs.
• Ensure adherence and compliance with Occupational Health standards and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Ensure correct usage and flow of chemicals.
• Monitor boiler pressure in accordance with demand.
• Monitor the water/fuel level of the boiler.
• Perform administration functions.
